The Stonpit Nursery vans & lorries are a familiar sight in Henfield often to be seen stocking up the honesty box site at the corner of Nep Town Lane and Blackgate Lane.

Jean and Peter Johnson have been running the family business with son Neil locally in Henfield for 15 years but Peter is no stranger to horticulture having been a plantsman and landscaper for 50 years.

The main nursery is located in Stonepit Lane and offers a large selection of bedding plants, baskets, geraniums, fushias, patio plants as well as fresh cut flowers. During May to July the nursery is open 9-5 Wednesdays to Saturday and Sunday mornings only. Baskets are available to purchase but can also be made up to order.

Landscaping

Running alongside the nursery business is the landscaping side of things which is, in fact, the core of the Stonepit nursery business and includes:

• Patios
• Fencing
• Driveways
• Timber Decking
• Turfing
• Garden Clearance
• Ponds, water falls and features
• Garden design service

An extensive portfolio is available for viewing and advice available on different landscaping materials from traditional slabbing to new finishes such as Indian sandstone.

Stonepit Nursery visit a number of showgrounds and events throughout the season and in 2006 were bronze medal winners at Chelsea Flower Show. Other events include:

• South of England Show
• Hadlow Down Steam Rally
• Small Holder Show, Ardingly
