Many of the plants at Brighton Plants may seem unfamiliar. Our small nursery was set up deliberately to offer a range of plants that are not normally available locally (according to the RHS Plantfinder, where we will be listed next year) but which I regard as well worth growing. There are also some more common varieties that I happen to have about the place. At the moment I find I have more of the latter but that will change as time goes on and stock plants mature.
Varieties are especially chosen to be suitable for Sussex conditions - on chalk, clay, by the sea or in shade. I intend to offer a wide variety of herbaceous perennials, shrubs, climbers and some small trees.
Plants are entirely home grown, in a minimal peat mix (John Innes & Peat free composts with or without sand or grit) which I find works as well as any peat based mix, despite claims to the contrary. Use of chemicals is also kept to a minimum.
Please visit the website for an up to date list and more pictures.

If you'd like to visit the nursery please contact us in advance.
Please do not arrive unexpectedly. The nursery is at our home and a) we may not be in, and b) I might not be able to give you the undivided attention you'd like.
Due to limitations of space most varieties will be available only in small quantities so please contact me first to avoid being disappointed.
If you see anything that especially interests you in the Blog or in the Emma's GardenFlickr photoset that is not listed please don't hesitate to ask about future availability. I might not be able to reserve plants individually long term but depending on how busy I get, I may be able to alert you if something you've asked about becomes available.
