Cancer Research UK Relay for Life Horsham 2009
Relay For Life Horsham 2009! An Invitation...
What is Relay For Life? Local teams of friends, family, neighbours and colleagues, fundraise within their local communities throughout the year, raising all they can for the life-saving work of Cancer Research UK, then get together for a great overnight party of celebration and commemoration that everyone in the community can join in.
During the Relay, team members take it in turns to walk round the track. This isn't to do with athletics or sponsored runs, as teams fundraise throughout the year and Relay is a celebration of their achievements. There's a Survivors' Lap of Honour and a Candle of Hope ceremony too, to remember those touched by cancer.
There's entertainment from the local community including music, competitions, fun things to do…everything that goes to make up a great carnival atmosphere.
What does a team captain do? Relay For Life teams are usually made up of between 8 to 15 people – they can be friends, family, neighbours, workmates, anyone you know who’s happy to join you in the fun and the fundraising that lead up to the event. So signing up as a team captain simply means getting a few people together – and supplying a bit of inspiration and encouragement to raise lots of money for life-saving research.
At your local Relay For Life event, you’ll be camping overnight with your team, sharing in the community festivities, taking turns to walk the track, perhaps commemorating someone special or joining cancer survivors in a celebratory circuit.
Relay For Life is happening in communities all over the UK and the world and now it's happening in Your community at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre on the 18th-19th July 2009 so you can get involved and make a difference.

Will you give one day of your life to think about your part in Cancer Research UK mission to find cures for cancer? Relay For Life is 24 hours in the footsteps of someone living with cancer –it will get cold, hard and lonely, like the cancer journey, but the sun will come up and it will be a new day and new hope for cures.
