Henfield Gardens & Arts Festival 2007

This much-loved annual festival on June 16th/17th continues to grow both in variety and the amount raised for local charities. Featuring dozens of artists and musicians performing in the many beautiful open gardens this Henfield festival for 2007 offers you a new pleasure… the chance to enjoy a 3 acre English meadow in summer!

The Tanyard

In the centre of the village, and encircled by the Festival's twittens (paths!), what is now a wildflower meadow was historically one of our largest British leather-tanning yards. Here you can rest your feet and enjoy either the local deli's picnic - or B.Y.O.

The Henfield Tanyard Meadow and Festival picnic area

Open to the public for the 1st time, you can come and experience Henfield's own special wildflower meadow. Enjoy learning about the Tanyard’s rich wildlife & a history going back to the C16th. Follow the mown meadow trail, whilst seeing how it is managed for wildlife on advice from Sussex Wildlife Trust. There is a Trail Quiz for children - and a special 'Bughunt' event for them too!

You can even buy a tasty picnic or afternoon tea (from sponsor Taste…Deli) to savour in the specially created mown area - and you'll be raising funds for Sussex Wildlife Trust too.
